What’s Andanu?

Andanu is the name of my Happiness Coaching business, it is NOT my name, which is quite hard to pronounce, Ingibjorg Rosa. But you can call me Inga if it’s too difficult.

I’m Icelandic but have lived at least 7 lives. Daughter/sister, teacher, journalist/writer, stand-up comedian/event manager, cancer patient, carer, Happiness Coach.

I came up with the word ANDANU when trying to think of an easy-to-pronounce name for my business, a name that would somehow capture EVERYTHING I had in mind of doing. ANDANU is a word that came to me in that wonderful space between being asleep and awake one early morning.

While you might not understand the word right away, it has multiple meanings to me:
It can be a simplified spelling of the Icelandic term “Anda nú”, meaning “Breathe Now”It can be a variation of the English term “And Anew”
It can be a mixture of both: “Anda New” meaning “New Breathing”.

Because one of the pillars of Self Care is to pause and BREATHE. Whenever we get too stressed, too busy, too shocked, we tend to forget to breathe properly, then we panic about not being able to breathe properly. One of the greatest advice I was given when facing one of life’s biggest challenges was: “Trust that you can breathe.”

My next chapter in life is to help people improve their lives, evolve and create their dream life and guide them to Happiness, learning what Happiness is to them and how to maintain it. And it all starts with taking a new breath.

P.S. I also realised that in Hindi, Andanu means “egg cell” or the ovum! Which I found very fitting actually, the very beginning of all human life. ❤
